How one guy achieved 19K MRR in 3 months rating water on Instagram Reels
Do you know what’s in your water? That’s the question Oasis has built a whole businesss model around. The website is called live-Oasis.com and is currently raking in 19K a month with 83K followers across socials.
Here’s exactly how they did it (and how you can too)👇
Background 📓
Cormac Hayden originally had the vision of beginning his content journey on TitTok. The strategy was simple, build the product and use it as the informational engine for his content. The problem was that his videos were getting lost in the TikTok algorithm. They just weren’t catching on. So he decided to also try Instagram reels. This is when his channel exploded.
Here are some of his most successful videos and what went right:
🎬 Mountain Valley Water: 945k Views, 17.3K Likes, 19.9K Shares
Hook: “…what people don’t realize is that Mountain Valley water isn’t actually that clean…”
Format: Green screen + product demo
Why this video worked:
Targeted a city “LA”.
Hook evokes curiosity.
Shows product in background.
Never directly advertises his product.
Hook: “Brands that refuse to share their water report..”
Format: Green screen + product demo.
Why this video worked:
Is it a brand that I drink?
Email conversation in video background.
Captivating hook with text on video.
Creates controversy.
🎬 Costco water review: 2.2M Views, 114K Likes, 61.8K Shares
Hook: “This is for all my Costco lovers out there…”
Format: Green screen + product demo
Why this video worked:
Popular, relatable grocery store.
Straight to the point water rating.
Image of familiar water brand we all know and love.
Key takeaways from Oasis 💡
Most people don’t want to get sold another product.
Try not to explicitly advertise your product. They either want to be informed or entertained. If your product happens to be in the background of your video so be it…
If one channel doesn’t work, try the next.
Sometimes TikTok’s algorithm is harder to break into. If its not working, try the next.
If you figure out a repeatable format that works, go with it.
People like familiarity. It’s also easier to maintain one format.
People trust people, not brands.
Although Cormac didn’t need to show his face for any of the videos, it created trust and authenticity for his viewers. He’s now know as the “waterboy” of TikTok.
What you can replicate from this format 💰
Have a face for your brand.
TikTok and Reels algorithm favors faces and voiceovers.
Don’t sell your product, sell the value.
In Oasis cases he sells living longer and not getting cancer. Sounds ridiculous right?
Put something relatable in the first 3 seconds.
Bonus points if it’s controversial or a very well known brand.
That’s all got for this one. If you have any other viral consumer products you want me to break down my DM’s are always open.
Cheers!
