  • A very bizarre start of the video which starts with spraying lotion on hands, capturing viewer’s attention.

  • Single shot tiktok without any cuts or transformations, but still keeps the user engaged, by changing subject of focus.

  • Surprise element of cheating on an interview by using the app.

  • The video till the end does not answer why lotion was put on the camera, making the user see the video again. The above point is resonated in the comments section.

Why this video worked:

  • This was an experiment that was well paid off, there was no major hook or retention agent, just a quick tiktok.

  • Good use of background music which held the viewer

  • The demo of the product is very well portrayed and the promise made is super crisp and clear.

Key takeaways from AIApply’s TikTok Strategy: 💡

  • If it works, use it again: Do you have a recent viral tiktok, well use it again then. This might seem like a no brainer, but sometimes, account managers do not want to copy their own content again for brand sanctity, but also because it feels like a wrong shortcut, but it works and AIApply is a good example of the same. Tweak it slightly if you want to, but post similar content within a week.

  • Be clear in your offering: AIApply was super clear in their offering through product demos and hook promises. Most their text overlay hooks revolved around ‘I got a job’ which is their central promise and the product demos showed their product features in action which worked wonders for them. Being super clear also echoes the content with the correct audience.

  • Add in easter eggs for engagement: Once you’ve hooked the viewer, there is room for some fluff and mystery. For example, the lotion trick forces the viewer to focus on the video and try to understand what the point of doing that was. Doing this resulted in a ton of engagement which boosted the video and helped it go viral.

  • Consistent Character: All the tiktoks are made just by one creator on the team of AIApply. This establishes deep relations and trust between the brand and the viewer as their product has a recurring usage with the client and not a one time one hence, 1 creator → better trust → long term relationship.
